Approval Process

There is a two-step process to participate in the Primary Care Practitioner Loan Redemption Program of New Jersey (NJLRP). Both the provider and placement site must meet program requirements and be approved to participate in the program, in order for a provider to be enrolled into the NJLRP.

Listed below are steps to take if you are interested in the NJLRP:

If a provider is already working at a NJLRP approved placement site on a full-time basis (40 hours per week), meets the eligibility criteria and is interested in participating in the NJLRP, the provider can apply to the program by clicking Provider Guidance & Application.

If a provider is working at a NJLRP placement site that is not approved and both the site and provider are interested in participating in the NJLRP and meet program requirements, both the site and provider must apply to the program by clicking Provider Guidance & Application and/or Placement Site Guidance & Application. Sites in areas listed on the New Jersey Medically Underserved Index and/or Federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas does not guarantee NJLRP placement site approval. Sites not located in areas listed on the New Jersey Medically Underserved Index must complete a placement site application and submit a Patient Origin Study.

If a provider is not working at the time of application submission, the NJLRP staff can provide assistance in job placement by circulating the provider's resume to participating NJLRP placement sites. If the NJLRP placement sites are interested in the provider the sites will contact the provider directly to initiate the interview process. The NJLRP does not publish a list of approved NJLRP sites. Once employment at an approved site has been obtained, a copy of the employment contract and work schedule must be forwarded to the NJLRP office.
